The program

Junior Playmaker is our 3-month internship program for graduates and students that gives them a real taste of everyday operations in a fast-growing SaaS company with a global team of 100+ Playmakers. It is focused on developing practical skills, learning by doing, and growing the interns’ future careers. The program usually lasts 3 months with the possibility of extension.

The Company

Databox, a fast-growing SaaS company that helps other companies monitor and improve their business performance, is giving an opportunity to young and enthusiastic people that want to help scale our systems from thousands to millions of users. We are looking for a Junior Playmaker who wants to join a fast-paced team of driven individuals, get involved in building a technically superior product, learn practical engineering skills, and thrive in an environment that will kickstart growing their career.

The Team

All our interns join our Product and Engineering team, which has over 35 members with extensive experience in UI/UX design, frontend/mobile/backend development, product growth, and analytics. We build our product and features from scratch using the latest technologies.

Mentoring, code reviews, and writing tests are only some of our core engineering principles. We celebrate achievements, encourage personal growth, structure knowledge sharing, and have fun doing it all.

Junior Playmaker Internship

We are looking for an individual with basic knowledge and experience in PHP, Node.js, TypeScript (backend), or JavaScript/HTML/CSS (frontend) that is excited at the opportunity to develop those skills further. We know new programming languages can be learned quickly, but we care much more about your general engineering skills than your knowledge of a particular language or framework.

This internship is best suitable for graduates or students in the second half of their programs in the area of:

  • Computer science and Information Technologies
  • Informatics and Technologies of Communication

We're excited to welcome young bright minds who would like to grow their engineering skills, are eager to learn, have a desire to get proactively involved, and have an ownership mindset.

The Benefits

The Junior Playmaker program is not separate from our normal stream of product development. We believe that the best way to become a good software engineer is to learn by doing. The program usually lasts 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

Here’s what you can expect from the internship:

  • First-class mentorship and professional support. Every Junior Playmaker is paired with a mentor who provides them with technical assistance.

  • Working in a real-life engineering team. We consider our interns to be equal team members and give them opportunities to contribute directly to real projects and goals of our P&E teams.

  • Building diverse professional relationships. Junior Playmakers get the chance to connect with all team members and pick brains from different profiles and learn about the industry from multiple aspects.

  • Being part of our team. All our interns experience the real-life of a Databox Playmaker: think team events, coffee talks, debates, volleyball sessions, and more.

  • Hybrid work schedule. Databox is a remote-friendly company with over 100 team members working across the globe. Although this internship is best suitable for a candidate located near Ptuj, Slovenia, you will have the possibility of working from home a few times per week.

If you have the ability to learn quickly, take initiative, work independently, and handle the pressures of an increasing level of responsibility, send us your CV and a short explanation of why you think you should be the next Junior Playmaker.
